Good day to Mommy's blog readers...she chose me today, Matt! I get to narrate the delicious event of our family putting up our Christmas decorations.
I just can't put into words how awesome there is. You have electrical cords, breakable lights, tangled webs that just don't seem like they're ever going to get straight, guns that shoot staples into our fence, ladders, Daddy up on the roof, blow up characters (never mind that I kept saying, "I blow Rudolph." That's just embarrassing), and a reason to go outside after dark.
Does life get any better?
 |
| This is how Mommy and Daddy tried to keep us out of trouble while they were bringing all the lights up from the basement. It worked for approximately 3.5 seconds. |
 |
| Look at this girl's face!!! Does it just shout "surprise" or what? I love my sister. |
 |
| The keeper of extra lights and those little fuse things...does anyone even use those anyway? Nah...they just go out and buy new lights, right? |
 |
| Supervising...Santa is a big deal around here. |
 |
| Hailey had some of the best expressions today. She was totally psyched when Santa came to life and couldn't get over her love of Rudolph. Can you see why I love her so much? |
 |
| I had a little trouble toward the end...what can I say? While I love Christmas, I love my naps more! |
 |
| I'm pretty sure he was losing his marbles at this point. Sometimes Daddy does silly things to keep his patience in check when we're acting out. I can't blame him. We're a little nuts sometimes. |
 |
| What was Hailey thinking here? I'm pretty sure it was, "take me outside so I can look at the damn house lit up...NOW!!!" She really needs to learn how to be patient. Sheesh! |
 |
| From the outside looking in...Mommy went across the street to get a shot of our house all lit up and saw me sitting in the window. How could she resist? Look how cute I look! I was seriously enthralled with the lights...it's taking every ounce of restraint I have not to pull all of those lights off our windows! They're so pretty! |
 |
| So happy to see everything coming together. |

What about you guys? Are you all decorated? Do you go for white or colored lights at your house? Mommy loves white lights and Daddy loves colored lights, so we compromise. Colored on the outside and white on the inside. Mommy has talked herself into the fact that our house looks less gaudy and more like a little gingerbread house. She is only tolerating the blow up characters for the "sake of the children." Otherwise, she'd stick a pin in them and play innocent...we're all pretty sure of that.
Thanks for reading! Mommy said that I get an extra dessert if everyone comments today, so let's hear it!!!

love the pics! how does hailey get gloves and mittens? lucky girl. the look she's giving you in that one pic reminds me of the look i give when i get annoyed. haha. looks like matt was very helpful. where's the house shot that you talked about?
dessert for matt!
That picture of Matt in the window is awesome!!!
I have GOT to get rolling with the Christmas stuff. We used to never decorate outside...until we moved into this neighborhood. Our neighbors approached us with a smile, but you could tell there was a serious underlying tone. "Yes, we all decorate for Christmas. We like the way the street looks when everyone has lights up." Ahem.
We *should* have decorated the weekend before Thanksgiving, when it was 60 degrees. Instead I couldn't resist meeting a girlfriend for coffee during naptime, so we'll be braving the 40-degree temps this weekend. But then maybe I'll have earned more coffee...
Dear Matthew, the wind is terrible today and the rain doesn't help! No decorations here! Enjoy my comment, and your extra dessert!
I love the white lights but DH is a colored guy. I thankfully have a postage stamp for a front yard, so I just decorate the porch and call it a day. With all the neighborhood dogs that find our yard a suitable piss-stop, I'm sure any yard decorations would be ruined. That being said, I'm terrified of the moving reindeer. The asshat neighbor has one, but keeps it on his porch so no on steals it. WTF? I'd take gingerbread houses any day over creepy wire and light moving reindeer.
The picture of Matt inside from the outside is awesome, like it is out of a movie or something.
We went as far as to put up the tree and did a half ass job assembling our little village, but we haven't gotten around to decorating the tree or putting together the train. And someone (DH) made the mistake of telling the twins a train was going under the tree and now we hear "do, do, train?" twenty times a day. We haven't done anything outside in years due to sheer laziness. Maybe in our next house.
Happy dessert, Matt!
How much fun! I love that Matt took over - great pictures!
We haven't started decorating yet. We really need to, but I'm a little scared for the inside stuff with my 3. They get into everything! I really want to decorate more outside, but I'm not sure how. I love blue and white lights! i think my hubby agrees!
Aww, how sweet! We're not doing a tree this year, but I do want to decorate. Our house WILL be festive (from a height of about five feet upwards.) I have outdoor lights, but no ladder and no idea how I will get a couple of hours of free time to hang them. Hubby hates the holidays so our agreement is I get as festive as I want to, he doesn't complain about it, and I don't ask him to help.
I love how excited H is seeing everything blown up, and the picture of M in the window - priceless.
Great photos! Wow!
Our decorations and tree have been up since the 3rd week of November. My son was so excited, so I didn't see any reason to wait.
We didn't decorate the exterior since we have a very small yard. Also, the fact that it's still 80 here makes it hard to see a sleigh in the front yard. LOL! :)
I love how flippin' excited they get over this stuff! I can't wait until Christmas morning this year.
Does Matt still get an extra dessert for a comment a week later? ;-)
LOVE those expressions on Hailey - just awesome!! What a great reminder of how wonderful this time of year is!! Priceless!!
And that photo of Matt in the lights?? incredible capture! Nice shot Mom!
I call them Blow Up Dolls...ha!
I'm all for white lights, too. We got a new, prelit tree this year and the kids wanted colored lights...so we compromised, too. We found one that had white, red and green lights - so at least the colors are a bit more classic. I have to admit, it does look really nice :-)
